Welcome to Einstienn's Page

Sire: Kersin's Midas Touch
Valhalla's Einstienn is available for adoption.  He is a nearly pure white ISD who was born in July and due to coat color pattern and distribution he is deaf (BAER's confirmed).  His mother (left) is an extreme pied as was his grandmother which resulted in the pure white dogs. Unfortunately, it also produced the first known deaf ISD's.  Regardless, he is a fabulous animal of superior type and temperment. He is looking for the perfect home!
Einstienn is currently spending time in a foster home. I made the decision to place him for two
reasons. Number one, Katina has a new litter and I was concerned that Einstienn wouldn't get the time he deserved not to mention due to his deafness he wasn't heeding Katina's warnings. Secondly, I met the best possible person for the job. Jess has been a foster for a local rescue organization several times, is interested in the ISD, got along with Einstienn famously and he is local so I have constant contact with him; it has been working beautifully.  He has discovered what I knew, Einstienn is a remarkable dog.  He is kind, willing and extremely intelligent.  He has a rock solid disposition and temperament as his temperament test predicted.
Einstienn Stacks At 8 Weeks
Einstienn 9 months old
Einstienn at 6 weeks is learning to stack. Being white, I knew he would never show. Of course we were unaware of the deafness, but I always admired his type.  With time, he would prove to have qualities I was seeking all while strengthening those in the line. He would be true to the "hang" test Pat Hastings had demonstrated on another of my litters.  He is my favorite type to date and has surpassed my expectations with his movement.  As mentioned above, his temperament is outstanding.  Whoever adopts him will be getting one fantastic dog.. He handles his deafness beautifully and his foster family is working on improveing communication with him!

Einstienn Now 15 months old.  He is in his foster home and this picture was taken within hours of his arrival. He is in doggy heaven and is doing well. Einstienn is nearly 18mos old, altered, house broken, micro-chipped and current on his vaccinations. Jess is working on new ways  of communication and improving on hand signals.

LITTER PAGE
Pictured here at 6 weeks, I was applying the free hang technique used by Pat Hastings in evaluating pups. I had seen this when she evaluated my litter as well as when I attended her seminar.  Of course 6 weeks is not the optimal age but I repeated it at 8 weeks with even better results.  He held a solid topline, head position and allowed his legs to hang free.  They are nearly straight (minus a little fight) in the photo's here. By 8 weeks, they were beautiful, neither stiffening forward or back, they were relaxed with straight drop. Of course I haven't Pat's technique nor expertize but I was amazed that the test appears to paralled what I was seeing in stacks, movement and natural stance. As she stated on several occasions, he could hold a pose forever. The sign of a structurally sound dog.
Einstienn IS exactly what I would have kept for a future stud. OF COURSE HE IS ALTERED. I had him altered even before we had the BAER's results to avoid any temptation to try and "breed away" from the color. Many other breeds have fallen victim to this practice with the end result being the production of more deafness. Sure enough, by BAER's he is profoundly deaf in the L ear and show significant loss in the R.  Personally, I feel he is profoundly deaf as does his foster parent.
There has been a misguided belief circulating that if a dog has ANY color on his ears, it is unlikely he will be deaf.  NOTHING COULD BE FURTHER FROM THE TRUTH.
Notice the color on the tips of the ears.  It is important to know that even dogs with solid color on the ears CAN be deaf. It is related to coat color PATTERN and is dependant on the color of the cilia within the ear, NOT the EAR COLOR ITSELF!
A few days later and he is obviously suffering terribly.  One big task with Einie is to figure out a method of recall.  You will notice he is on-lead in nearly every photo. Obviously a deaf dog can't respond to your call.  This is actually his only big problem. His house manors are great and his calm demeanor fits in easily. He would be happy to be your couch potato.
